Lizz Herman was born and raised in northern Pennsylvania on a dairy farm. Her love for animals started young. Although she did not grow up around horses, she started her first riding lessons when she was just 7 years old. At the age of 15 Lizz purchased her first horse, an Arabian quarter horse cross. In college Lizz continued developing her love and knowledge of horses by receiving her bachelor degree in Recreation with a concentration in Equine Studies. At college she participated in dressage, hunter jumper, and western riding.
LIzz received her CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) certification in 2010. Since then she has continued to give riding lessons, lead trail rides, and direct summer camps. She has been working at Second Wind Farm since 2019 and is excited to be a part of the farm’s journey as the programs and opportunities continue to grow. Lizz excels in working with beginner and intermediate youth giving both English and Western riding lessons. However, she has a growing interest in training horses. Lizz’s favorite thing about working at the farm is the opportunity it provides her to give others the experience of horseback riding that many people never have along with the joy of watching students improve and succeed.
